Last week, the historically first round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) took place in Latvia – Tet Rally Latvia, officially making Latvia the 37th country in the world to host a top-level rally. Organizing a rally of unprecedented geographical scope and complexity, preliminary data shows that more than 100 000 people visited the stages, various city activities, and other event-related venues. At the finish of Tet Rally Latvia, two-time world champion Kalle Rovanperä from Finland, who began his career in Latvia and twice won the Latvian rally championship, stepped on the podium celebrating the overall victory.

On Monday, July 15, a press conference was held in a festive atmosphere at the Rīga Motor Museum to celebrate the upcoming FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) event, Tet Rally Latvia. Speakers at the press conference included the chairman of the Saeima (parliament of the Republic of Latvia) Sports Subcommittee Dāvis Mārtiņš Daugavietis, chairman of the CSDD board Aivars Aksenoks, Tet Rally Latvia director Raimonds Strokšs, chairman of the board of the technology company Tet Uldis Tatarčuks, as well as Latvian WRC pilots. Tet Rally Latvia will finish at Vecpils autotrack
The FIA World Rally Championship round Tet Rally Latvia will finish exactly one week from now, on July 21, with the Power Stage at the Vecpils Autotrack, where the winners of the first-ever FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Latvian round will be determined. The SS18/20 Mazilmāja special stage, with its final part at the Vecpils Autotrack, is scheduled to take place twice, allowing spectators to witness the decisive "meters" of the WRC Latvian round in person – including jumps and the last corners before the winners are determined. The Vecpils Autotrack will also feature regroup zone, providing spectators with the opportunity to meet the competitors throughout the day, as well as watch the ceremonial conclusion of the rally – the Tet Rally Latvia winner celebration, the winning team's photo session, the award ceremony, and interviews with the fastest crews of the FIA World Rally Championship Latvian round.
The X3000 rally challenge e-sports tournament has concluded
The e-sports tournament X3000 LV Virtual Rally Challenge took place in anticipation of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Latvia stage Tet Rally Latvia. Initially, during June, participants competed in qualifiers across three stages to determine the four fastest finalists. Then, on July 11th, at the special start event of Tet Rally Latvia in Rīga, the Grand Final of the X3000 Rally Challenge took place. Ralfs Sirmacis emerged victorious, winning the main prize – a drive on the Biķernieki track in the WRC stage.
The start event in Rīga marks one week until Tet Rally latvia
With the WRC start event in Rīga on Thursday, July 11, at Rīga Town Hall Square, exactly one week was symbolically marked until the next week's FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) round Tet Rally Latvia. At the start event, speeches were given by leading officials of the cities and regions where the rally will take place, the director of Tet Rally Latvia, representatives of the rally's supporters and partners, as well as three Latvian driver crews who will participate in the WRC Latvian round. Tet Rally Latvia crews will do a parade drive trough Kuldīga
Three special stages of the FIA World Rally Championship's Latvian round, Tet Rally Latvia, are set to take place in the Kuldīga region, however, WRC activities in Kuldīga will not end there. Throughout all four days, a fan zone will be active in Kuldīga Town Hall Square. Moreover, on the evening of Friday, July 19, all rally crews, traveling from Talsi to Liepāja, will drive-through Kuldīga for a parade, crossing the Kuldīga brick bridge and through the old town, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, including Liepājas Street. It is expected that the first rally crew will arrive in Kuldīga around 18:20, with the competitors’ drive lasting approximately 90 minutes.

During the FIA World Rally Championship round Tet Rally Latvia, Food Festival will take place in the rally cities of Tukums, Talsi, and Liepāja. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste various dishes prepared by Latvian chefs.

Rally1 HYBRID car safety
Since 2022, the most powerful car class in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) has featured Rally1 HYBRID vehicles. The main difference from previous generations is the inclusion of hybrid technology and an electric motor. At Tet Rally Latvia, a total of ten such Rally1 HYBRID cars will participate, with one of them driven by the local crew from Liepāja, Mārtiņš Sesks / Renārs Francis.

Kurzemes radio will be the official rally radio for Tet Rally Latvia
From July 18 to 21, Kurzemes Radio will become the official rally radio for all four days of the FIA World Rally Championship's eighth round, Tet Rally Latvia. Listeners will be able to follow the rally events, tune into the expert studio, and hear interviews with drivers. Entry list for Tet Rally Latvia published, all three active champions set to start in Latvia
40 crews have registered to participate in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Latvian round Tet Rally Latvia, including all the active world champions – Sébastien Ogier, Kalle Rovanperä, and Ott Tänak. In total, ten crews will compete with full-fledged Rally1 HYBRID cars, including Liepāja-native Mārtiņš Sesks / Renārs Francis, in the front of the home crowd. Additionally, 24 crews, led by Oliver Solberg, will compete with Rally2 cars, well-know to Latvian rally fans from previously run rounds of FIA European Rally Championship in Latvia. Among WRC2 competitors, we will see the crews of two more Latvian drivers – Matīss Mežaks and Artūrs Priednieks.

Tet Rally Latvia launches e-sports tournament
In anticipation of the FIA World Rally Championship's Latvian stage, Tet Rally Latvia, a new e-sports activity is being introduced today – the X3000 LV Virtual Rally Challenge. Registration and participant applications for the tournament have also begun on the website www.x3000play.com. Throughout June, a preliminary races will take place in three stages, to determine four fastest among all rally and digital sports enthusiasts. On July 11th, these four finalists will compete in the Grand Finale of the X3000 Rally Challenge at a special Tet Rally Latvia event in Riga. They will compete for a unique grand prize provided by Tet Rally Latvia and X3000 – a ride in a Sports Racing Technologies rally car on the first special stage of the WRC Latvian rally at the Biķernieki track.

A historic decision for Latvian motorsport was made today at the FIA World Motor Sport Council, approving the calendar for the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) season, which includes an event in Latvia for the first time. The official name of the rally will be Tet Rally Latvia, and in the summer of 2024, from July 18th to 21st, it will cover the territory from the rally city of Liepāja all the way to the capital city of Riga, with special stages also taking place in Tukums, Talsi, Kuldīga, and the Dienvidkurzeme region. Latvia will become the 37th host country for a WRC event.
Widest-staged Tet Rally Liepāja has concluded
Last weekend, across a geographically extensive territory, the Latvian round of the FIA European Rally Championship Tet Rally Liepāja was hosted. This event, which simultaneously featured two rounds of the Latvian Rally Championship, saw a total of 68 crews, with 136 drivers representing 26 different countries, including Japan, New Zealand, and Argentina from far beyond Europe. Over the course of ten special stages, a local crew from Liepāja, Mārtiņš Sesks and Renārs Francis, clinched their second victory of the 2023 European championship and the second in the history of Tet Rally Liepāja.

Latvia joins calendar of the WRC championship
Today, in a special presentation event held at the newly renovated Riga Circus building, it was publicly confirmed that Latvia has met all the prerequisites set forth for the international motorsport event organizer in Latvia, RA Events, to expand its cooperation with the WRC Promoter, organizer of the FIA European Rally Championship and the FIA World Rally Championship. This allows Latvia to become the organizing country for the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and continue its work towards the organization of the Tet Rally Latvia WRC round in 2024.
Latvia starts its way to join FIA World Rally Championship
On December 21, 2021, a decision was made during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to support the hosting of a FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) round in Latvia, marking a historic milestone for our country. This decision initiates a comprehensive preparation process to host a full-fledged WRC round in 2024. RA Events, the organizer of Rally Liepāja, in collaboration with WRC Promoter, plan to retain Rally Liepāja in 2022 and 2023 calendar of FIA European Rally Championship (FIA ERC).
