At the Biķernieki track, the historically first Tet Rally Latvia stage and spectator activities even before the start
On Thursday, July 18, at the CSDD Biķernieki track in Rīga, the special, historically first special stage of the Latvian round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Tet Rally Latvia will take place, with crews visiting Tukums region, Talsi and Talsi region, Kuldīga region, Dienvidkurzeme region, as well as the rally city Liepāja in the following days.
The Biķernieki track area will be open to visitors from 15.00, allowing them to settle into their preferred seats in the stands or find the best viewing spot at Witch's Cauldron (Raganas Katls). The Tet Rally Latvia partner zone will also be operational, offering engaging activities and a Sportland fan merchandise store. At 16.00, present visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a Latvian rally history quiz prepared by the Rīga Motor Museum, with the top three knowledgeable participants winning a unique prize – a ride in the SSS1 Biķernieki Track stage. Starting from 17.00, spectators will be able to watch live broadcast of the Tet Rally Latvia Opening Ceremony taking place at Riga Town Hall Square on screens set up at the Biķernieki track.
Shortly before the start of SSS1 Biķernieki Track at 19.00, an exciting and entertaining show-race featuring Latvian motorsport stars and legendary rally cars will take place. It will feature an Audi S1 Quattro driven by Ivars Velme / Andis Velme, two Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI cars driven by Andris Kulbergs / Edgars Zelderis and Alvis Fjodorovs / Uldis Fjodorovs, and a Subaru Impreza 555 driven by Māris Dundas / Annija Anna Vītiņa. Meanwhile, Latvian motorsport celebrities will be represented by two rallycross drivers – Reinis Nitišs, who will take to the track in Ken Block's Ford Fiesta RX Supercar, and his rallycross colleague, Jānis Baumanis, who will start with his rallycross Peugeot 208 Supercar.
As soon as these cars complete the special stage, the participants will have made the journey from Town Hall Square via Brīvības, Šmerļa, and S. Eizenšteina streets to start in the historically first WRC special stage in Latvia – an exciting and simultaneously tricky Biķernieki track challenge spanning two laps, with crews covering a total distance of 11.13 km. This will be a proper challenge, as the stage includes parts of the circuit racing and motorcycle track, as well as rallycross and karting tracks, along with a skilful corner section set in the middle of the speedway stadium.
At the Biķernieki track special stage, spectators will have a unique opportunity to choose between two zones to watch world-class rally cars and crews. One option is the grandstand zone along the start-finish straight up to the Elkonis corner, including the speedway stadium grandstands. The other option is a proper festival zone at Witch's Cauldron. Also, the length of the special stage allows spectators to change their viewing position during the stage. It is designed with a special starting sequence so that spectators can see each crew multiple times over the two-hour asphalt stage.
We invite spectators to make use of the unique location of the Biķernieki track right in the heart of the capital city Rīga. We encourage you to use public transportation or other mobility options such as bicycles or scooters to reach the special stage, as traffic is expected to be very heavy around the rally venues during the event.
It is important to note that for the convenience of spectators, special additional Rīgas Satiksme public transport services will be available after the conclusion of SSS1 Biķernieki Track. These designated buses will be waiting for passengers at the stop near the Rīga Motor Museum, ensuring visitors can quickly and easily depart from the track area.
