Our Story

Towards the dream

LONG-AWAITED SPEED

The beginning of this journey dates back to 2009, when Raimonds Strokšs, two-time Latvian rally champion, embraced the opportunity to host a round of the Latvian Rally Championship in his hometown – Talsi.

Over the subsequent years, events organised by RA EVENTS – both national and international – have taken place, including, rounds of FIA European Rally Championship and FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Persistence, charismatic leadership, patriotic-minded defiance and determination – these formidable qualities, coupled with the skill to forge a unified team, have propelled this arduous and winding journey to the pinnacle of motorsport. A dream that once appeared unreachable is now on the verge of becoming a reality.

In 2024, Latvia is set to make history by hosting the most prestigious rally event in the world – round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC)
, slated to unfold across the picturesque landscapes of Kurzeme and the vibrant capital city, Riga.

The WRC Latvian round serves as a testament that even the most distant and seemingly unreachable dreams can be realised through resolute determination, tireless effort, persistence, and the invaluable backing of individuals and partners who have faith in our journey and destination to reach.

Our story is a testament to the fulfillment of dreams, team spirit and belief in one's own abilities.

The journey to the WRC

2009

The history of the organiser of the international motorsport competitions – RA Events – dates back in 2009 when under the leadership of Raimonds Strokšs, the round of the Latvian Rally Championship – Rally Talsi was organised for the first time.

2013
FIA European Rally Championship (FIA ERC) made its debut in Latvia

From the very first years of the FIA European Rally Championship round in Latvia, the calling card of this rally has been its high organisational level, which has been appreciated by both the participants and the promoter, FIA officials and other involved parties.

2016
FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) round was hosted in Latvia for the very first time

From 2016 to 2022, Latvia was included in the calendar of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX). "Consciously or unknowingly, we have probably dreamed about the WRC round in Latvia since 2009. When we organised the first rally 14 years ago, we quickly realised that we wanted something bigger than the round of the national championship, we wanted to reach the top."

Raimonds Strokšs
